The DL4TM Delay Modeler has remained one of the most widely used delay pedals in the world for more than two decades—embraced by everyone from casual players to superstars. The DL4 was the first pedal to offer a broad selection of delay models based on vintage tape echo devices such as the Maestro® EP-1 Echoplex and the Roland® RE-101 Space Echo, classic analog delay stompboxes such as the Electro-Harmonix® Deluxe Memory Man, and even the Binson Echorec and studio staple TC Electronic® 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay. These were complemented by several Line 6 originals, including the exceptional Reverse delay—and the DL4 also boasted a highly intuitive "14 Second Loop Sampler" that is still considered one of most engaging loopers ever made.

The DL4 MkII honors that legacy by including every one of those original sounds and features, and retaining the same knob and footswitch layout, so there's no need for DL4 users to learn any new moves—but the DL4 MkII also introduces many new sounds and features that bring it fully into the 21st century. The 15 MkII delays were drawn from our HX® family of amp and effects processors and include Line 6 originals such as Harmony Delay, Pitch Echo, Euclidian Delay, Glitch Delay and ADT tape delay, as well as 4-Switch and 1-Switch looper types with up to 240 seconds of record time, expandable to several hours using an optional microSD card.

The DL4 MkII also features an XLR dynamic microphone input for vocal processing and looping; MIDI capabilities such as real time parameter control and preset selection (up to 128) via its MIDI In and Out/Thru DIN connectors; four heavy duty footswitches; and switchable true, buffered, or DSP bypass. There's also a jack for connecting an optional expression pedal (automatically assigned to the Delay Time, Repeat, Tweak, Tweez, or Mix controls) or two assignable external footswitches.

Finally, although the DL4 MkII does everything that the original DL4 does (other than run on batteries), plus so much more, it is considerably smaller and lighter, making it an even more appealing choice for modern musicians of all types.

30 WAYS TO DELAY
Fans of the original DL4 delay pedal will find all of their favorite sounds exactly where they expect them to be, with the same Tweak and Tweez control parameter assignments they've become accustomed to. The 15 new MkII delays were drawn from the HX family of amp and effects processors, and include both more recent versions of classic effects and cutting-edge Line 6 originals such as the super-vibey Glitch Delay.

TWO WAYS TO LOOP
The DL4 MkII features a simple 1-Switch looper in addition to a classic 4-Switch looper, both of which provide up to 240 seconds of recording time. By inserting an optional microSD card into the slot on the rear of the pedal, recording time may be extended up to several hours and a loop may be stored across power cycles. The loopers operate in either mono or stereo, and may be positioned in the signal chain before or after other effects.

MICROPHONE INPUT
It's no secret that the DL4 has been used for processing and looping by lots of people besides guitarists, including vocalists and others who capture their performance with a microphone. Now, dynamic microphones can be plugged directly into the pedal's XLR Mic input, eliminating the need for converter cables, mixers, or other external devices. This feature also makes the DL4 MkII a handy tool for sound designers and other sonic adventurers.

MIDI MAGIC
Onboard MIDI In and Out/Thru DIN connectors enable the DL4 MkII to receive continuous controller, program change, and other MIDI messages from external sources such as MIDI controllers, thus allowing parameters to be modified dynamically and presets to be selected remotely. The DL4 MkII provides access to three presets using the A, B, and C footswitches, or six if the Tap switch is set to toggle between two banks of presets (A,B, C and D, E, F). But the DL4 MkII can store up to 128 presets, selectable via MIDI.

  • Identical knob and footswitch layout as the original DL4
  • 30 Delays: 15 new MkII plus 15 Legacy DL4
  • 2 Looper types—mono/stereo and pre/post signal path options
  • Up to 240 seconds of looping time, or several hours with optional microSD card

4-stars: 'The Sun and the Moon' by Rebekah Faubion
Format: Kindle, Format: Kindle
I enjoyed reading The Lovers last year and was eager to read Rebekah’s new book, The Sun and the Moon. Gorgeous covers always draw me in, and both books have stunning designs. After reading the synopsis, I knew I would enjoy this one. I love stories where opposites attract and soulmates are destined to meet. I loved getting to know Cadence and Sydney as they met at their parents’ engagement party. Cadence doesn’t have a close relationship with her mother, but she tries to find out if her mom is up to no good. She meets Sydney, whose father is marrying Cadence’s mother. Sydney is curious about her father’s quick engagement and agrees to help Cadence uncover the truth and possibly stop the wedding. As they spend time together, their undeniable connection grows, suggesting their meeting was fate. I enjoyed this Sapphic Romance and its engaging storyline. The chemistry between Cadence and Sydney was enthralling. I understood both characters’ skepticism about their parents’ wedding. Cadence’s concerns about her mother felt clear, and while investigating, she also becomes protective when it comes to her mother’s business. I understood Sydney, too, who simply wants to protect her father, whom she admires. Both struggle with their parents getting married at first, but ultimately become closer to each other and their parents as truths are revealed. The book focuses heavily on Cadence’s mother, sometimes overshadowing other elements. Still, I enjoyed the soulmates storyline between Cadence and Sydney. Overall, this book earns four stars from me, and I look forward to reading more by Rebekah Faubion. Single/Dual POV: Dual POV. Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you like Sapphic Romance with two FMCs who are opposites and destined to meet, I definitely recommend The Sun and The Moon. What to Expect: ✓Sapphic Romance ✓Opposites Attract ✓One Bed ✓Soulmates

Not for me
Format: Kindle
🔆Bookish Thoughts This one just didn’t work for me. I really struggled to connect with either of the FMCs, and I found the pacing incredibly slow. So much of the story focused on Cadence’s complicated relationship with her mom, and it became repetitive fast. I also had a hard time getting into the romance. The “destined to be together” angle felt forced, and there was a lot more internal monologue than actual connection on the page. And both Cadence and Sydney seemed emotionally immature. Honestly, I didn't like either FMC. The premise was really cute, but I think I was expecting more of a romcom vibe, especially with the whole reverse Parent Trap setup. But it ended up feeling dry, and I found myself tuning out and just not that interested. That said, if you’re into slow burns with a lot of emotional processing, this might be more your thing. 📅 Pub Date: August 12, 2025 Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for the advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.

Cadence + Sydney
Format: Kindle
This book was so good. No flaws, I’m obsessed. The scheming parents, the family drama, the “forbidden” romance. All of it had me grasping for more. I love a good sapphic romance and this book did NOT disappoint!! The premise of this story was so compelling and I really felt for the main characters in their personal self-discovery journey as well as their familial relationship journey. It is pretty insta-love, but the background and actual plot make it so worth it. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a sapphic romance with a little magical twist to it!

It truly is the most Essential Guide
Format: Paperback
I've worked as a professional comic book letterer for more than a decade. I've had to learn a lot through trial and error since there was so little written about this technical field of work. Finally, there is now a book for amateur letterers to have all they need to understand the craft and for professional letterers to both reference and pick up new ideas from. This book isn't just a tutorial on "how to letter comics." This also showcases creative ways to letter, interesting techniques that even experienced letterers might not know about, and - what I found to be the most helpful - the realities of a letterer's freelance life and ways the write had worked to develop a good workflow and healthy work schedule to avoid burnout or physical strain. This is an engaging book, so even if you know how to letter well or you know nothing about lettering and want to understand the kind of work that letterers do, I highly recommend this as a great read. Through my experience, I developed very different methods than what this guide described, but both are valid and I even picked up new ideas and tried out new ways of doing things while reading this book. If you want to learn how to letter, buy this book. If you want to be a better letterer, buy this book. If you don't want to letter but you want to know more about how comics are made or how one freelances in this industry, this guide is great for that too. The only thing missing is a thorough explanation on how to develop one's own comic book fonts, but like the author said, that would take up an entire book in itself. Here's hoping one day there's a companion guide to comic book font creation, because I would love to learn more about that too.
